Sweet, creamy, and pink – this Valentine Martini is the perfect recipe for a Galentine’s Day party (or for your Valentine). It’s a creamy strawberry martini with just a few ingredients – make a Martini for your Sweetie!

Two pink cocktails in martini glasses, each topped with a strawberry on the rim. More strawberries are scattered on the gray surface. The background is blurred, highlighting the drinks.

A Classic Cosmo is perfect for Valentine’s (it’s pink, after all), but if you’re looking for an easy creamy sweet Valentine’s Day dessert martini, look no further. I’m calling this a Sweetie Martini since I made it for Valentine’s Day, but really it’s a strawberry martini with vodka and amaretto. It’s delicious!

A selection of ingredients on a countertop: a carton of half and half, a bottle of Disaronno liqueur, a bottle of Smirnoff Vanilla vodka, and a bottle of strawberry syrup.

Ingredient Notes

  • Vodka: Use your favorite vodka. You can use plain or use a flavored, like whipped or vanilla or even strawberry flavored, if you can find it.
  • Amaretto adds a ton of flavor – it’s one of my favorite liqueurs
  • Strawberry Syrup – you can use ice cream syrup or the kind of syrups coffeehouses use (i.e. Torani or Skinny Mixes). We love the Skinny Mixes Strawberry syrup best.
  • Milk – you can also use half and half or heavy cream (but use whole milk, not fat free)
A hand pours milk into a tall glass filled with ice and pink liquid. The glass has colorful dots and a gold rim. Strawberries and another glass are in the background on a gray surface.

How to make a Martini for Valentine’s Day

  1. Making a martini requires a cocktail shaker and a martini glass – shake all the ingredients and strain into the glass.
  2. You can also turn this easily into a cherry martini by using grenadine.
  3. Garnish with fresh strawberries or raspberries.
  4. Turn it into a chocolate covered strawberry martini by adding a drizzle of chocolate sauce or swapping the amaretto for Godiva’s White Chocolate Liqueur.
A pink cocktail is being poured from a golden shaker into a uniquely twisted martini glass. In the background, there is a white container with fresh strawberries. The setting is on a gray surface.

Expert Tip

If you don’t want to use Hershey’s syrup or Skinny Mixes, you can make strawberry simple syrup: add a carton of strawberries to a pot and mash them. Add 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup water and allow to cook until thickened. Puree and use in any cocktail!

Treat yourself to a Manhattan Cocktail for your next happy hour! This classic cocktail recipe is easy to make – it’s a combination of whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. If you love whiskey this drink is for you!

Two elegant cocktail glasses filled with a golden liquid, each garnished with a dark cherry on a skewer. A glass jar of cherries is nearby, set on a light surface.

It’s adult beverage time, and what better drink to make than a classic Manhattan cocktail recipe? Named for where it was created at New York City’s Manhattan Club. This classic drink is said to have been invented for Winston Churchill’s mother, Lady Randolph Churchill – and now you can make it at home!

This classic cocktail has been around since the late 1800s and is still a popular drink today. It’s a combination of whiskey, sweet vermouth, and angostura bitters. It’s usually served in a martini glass or low-ball glass.

A Manhattan has just 3 ingredients plus a garnish and you can make the traditional recipe with rye whiskey or substitute Canadian whiskey or bourbon. It’s such a simple cocktail recipe!

Bottles of Martini & Rossi extra dry vermouth, Jim Beam rye whiskey, Angostura bitters, and a jar of Tillen Farms pearl cherries are lined up on a counter with a white tile background.

Manhattan Cocktail Ingredients

  • Rye Whiskey – Rye whiskey is less sweet, compared to bourbon. You can use either one for this cocktail. Test out combinations with each whiskey and type of vermouth until you have a sweet and dry combo you like best.
  • Sweet Vermouth – Vermouth is a fortified wine that comes in two types: dry and sweet. I prefer using 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth in this drink.
  • Bitters – Bitters are a botanical used to add flavor to cocktails. I use regular bitters for this drink, but you can even use a flavored one if you want.
  • Cherry garnish – a jar of Luxardo cherries are the most common used. They’re marasca cherries that are candied and steeped in a syrup, and they can be expensive. You can use a slice of orange peel if you don’t have them or buy a less expensive type of marinated cherry (like Pearl Cherries).

How to make a Manhattan Cocktail

  1. I usually start with a measuring cup full of ice to chill the drink. Alternately, you can use a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add all ingredients to the cup and stir (or shake) to combine and chill the liquor.
  3. Strain the drink into a chilled glass and top with a cherry.
  4. A Manhattan Cocktail is a STRONG drink so be ready!
Two cocktails in coupe glasses with cherries on skewers, a bottle of amber liquid in the background, and a small bowl of cherries, set on a light gray surface.

Manhattan Variations

  • Bourbon Manhattan – This is this classic recipe made with bourbon.
  • Dry Manhattan – Use dry vermouth in place of sweet.
  • Rob Roy – This classic manhattan drink made with scotch in place of the whiskey.
  • Brandy Manhattan – Also called a Metropolitan, this uses brandy in place of the whiskey.
  • You can also swap Southern Comfort for the Whiskey.
  • Is a Manhattan Drink an Old-Fashioned? No, but they’re similar: Both are made with whiskey and bitters, but a Manhattan has sweet vermouth while an old-fashioned is made with sugar.

A Bay Breeze Cocktail is made with vodka, pineapple, and cranberry. It’s a tropical summer drink that will transport you to the beach – sweet and a little tart and so delicious. Plus, this Island Breeze Drink can be made as a single cocktail or a party punch for a crowd!

Two glasses of tropical cocktails garnished with pineapple slices and cherries. The drinks are orange with ice cubes, set on a light gray surface. A small bowl of cherries is visible in the background.

My favorite thing to do on any vacation, especially a relaxing beach vacation, is to read. I can devour book after book while I sit on my lounge chair drinking cocktails. I read two whole books over the week we were in Hawaii. Mel and Jordan spent 8 hours IN the pool, I spent 8 hours next to it, parked in a lounge chair, reading books and drinking what they called Island Breeze Cocktails, but are actually a version of a Bay Breeze Drink!

What is an Island Breeze Cocktail?

It’s a version of a Bay Breeze: a fruity vodka drink made with pineapple and cranberry juice, similar to a Hawaiian Sea Breeze or Malibu Bay Breeze. It’s the perfect drink for one or to make as a party punch! It’s a great variation on a pineapple martini or pineapple party punch!

A bottle of Titos Handmade Vodka is surrounded by a can of Dole pineapple juice, a bottle of Ocean Spray cranberry juice, fresh pineapple slices, and a bowl of maraschino cherries on a white background.

Ingredient Notes

  • This is a simple recipe; a vodka cocktail mixed with pineapple juice and a splash of cranberry. It has the perfect amount of sweet and tart flavor. It goes down like juice, which can be a bad thing in the hot midday sun. Or a good thing, depending on how you look at it.
  • Garnish it with a cherry and pineapple wedges or pineapple slices (or even a lime wedge) and you’ve got a gorgeous cocktail for any party (of one).
  • Traditionally tropical drinks like this are served in a hurricane glass or highball glass.

Variations

  • Turn this into a Sea Breeze by swapping grapefruit juice for the pineapple (similar to a Salty Dog).
  • If you add Malibu Rum it becomes a Malibu Bay Breeze.
  • This is a pineapple version of a Cape Codder (vodka cranberry).
A glass pitcher filled with a tropical fruit punch, featuring pineapple slices, cherries, and ice cubes. A small bowl of red cherries is placed beside the pitcher on a light grey surface.

How to make a Bay Breeze Punch

Turn this into a party punch super easily by scaling up the ingredients (I did the math for you in the recipe card). Then add some club soda or lemon lime soda to scale it up a bit more. (You could even leave out the vodka and let the adults add it themselves. The kids will love a Virgin Bay Breeze!)

When you drink this cocktail I want you to think of warm weather, the beach, and a good book. That’s what I’ll be dreaming about!

Well that and how fast I can make myself another one of these babies. 🙂

Expert Tips

  • I say 1-2 ounces vodka because it depends on how strong you want it. When in doubt add more vodka (or more juice). Use your favorite vodka; we love Tito’s.
  • Make it sparkling by adding some soda water.
  • When making a pitcher, taste test to make sure it’s not too strong or too weak for your guests.
  • I’ve also seen this called a Tropical Bay Breeze, which is what my friend Holly calls it.
  • Storing and Make Ahead: If making one cocktail it’s best to make it as you’re drinking it, but if you’re making a punch you can mix all the ingredients (except anything bubbly) and chill until ready to serve.

It’s time to discover the essential must-have tools for your at-home cocktail bar! From shakers to glasses to cocktail picks, it’s time to elevate your cocktail game and impress family and friends with signature drinks and concoctions!

Cocktail Bar Tools

yellow cocktail in a clear glass with a cherry, lime and pineapple slice in the drink.
  • MIXING SPOON – Mixing your drink with a long-handled mixing spoon allows the flavors of your drink to mixed gently. They can also be helpful in layering ingredients in drinks or the end can be used as a muddler in case you don’t have one.
  • JIGGER – No cocktail bar is complete without a jigger! It helps to measure liquid ingredients!
  • MUDDLER – You’ll want to have a muddler for drinks like a Mango Mojito. You’ll need to gently bruise your ingredients like mint, fruit, or a peel, with a muddler to release their flavor. It’s done in the glass itself and then joined by whatever liquids the recipe calls for.
  • MESH STRAINER – The cone shape is essential when straining unwanted extras for from your cocktail!
  • JUICER – Because fresh is best when making a cocktail! I’ve used this juicer for years and love it.

apple cider in a clear glass with a handle and a cinnamon stick and whipped cream on the top.

Crockpot apple cider couldn’t be easier to make. I added the cider, and the other delicious ingredients to my crockpot and turned it on. It really is so simple! In the fall, you can find apple cider at every grocery store, but if it’s off season or you can’t seem to find it, check the refrigerated aisle.

I love any recipe that tastes and smells like fall, and the cinnamon and apple in this recipe makes that wish come true. This drinks sits in the crock pot all day to be cooked to perfection while it makes your house have the best fall smells all at the same time! It is so sweet and delicious and perfect with caramel!

ingredients in apple cider laid out on a marble counter.

How to make Crockpot Apple Cider

  • Apple Cider: Cider is important – don’t use apple juice for best results (it’s not as rich of an apple flavor).
  • Cinnamon Sticks: You have to have cinnamon spices with apple cider. I also used star anise (you can also add whole cloves).
  • Orange Slices: Add another amazing flavor that pairs well with apples and cinnamon.
  • Toppings: I love topping this recipe with whipped cream, cinnamon, apple slices, or caramel ice cream topping – You can use my homemade caramel recipe or grab it from the store.
  • Make Spiked Cider by adding some vanilla vodka or fireball (cinnamon whiskey).
  • Just add the cider (and caramel ice cream topping, if using) to 5-7 quart crockpot. You can cook it on high for 2-4 hours or low for longer (and just use the warm setting once it’s hot, to keep it warm throughout your party).

Storing Apple Cider

  • Let cider cool and then place in an airtight container or pitcher in the fridge. It’ll last several days.
  • You can assemble the cider ahead of time and then just add it to the crockpot when it’s time to make your house smell amazing.

Dorothy’s Expert Tips for Cider

  • Add cloves to this Crockpot Apple Cider! It will taste amazing!
  • Other things you can add are maple syrup, cranberries
  • When it comes to what apples to use – we love gala or fuji. You can also use granny smith, honeycrisp, red delicious, golden delicious, and pink lady. Really anything works in this hot apple cider!
  • I love using vanilla vodka, but you can spike this caramel apple cider cocktail with so many different kinds of alcohol: bourbon, whiskey, or caramel vodka are just a few to choose from.
  • If you don’t want to use the crockpot, then pour some cider in a glass and add some caramel. Then heat it in the microwave.

My daughter loves Shirley Temples and has one every time we go out. I love them too but sometimes I want a little…something more – and this Dirty Shirley Drink Recipe delivers. It’s a fizzy drink with a shot of vodka – the adult version of that childhood favorite. It’s the perfect drink for really any occasion from a simple dinner to backyard barbecues or home happy hour! This recipe reminds me of my drunken cherries but in drink form – it’s so delicious and easy to make.

ingredients in dirty shirley laid out on a grey counter.

Key Ingredients

  • Ginger Ale: You can use ginger ale or lemon lime soda, both work great. There are varying opinions on which is authentic, so use what you like best. Diet soda is great too.
  • Grenadine: The main ingredient needed for a classic Shirley Temple. In a pinch you can use the juice from the maraschino cherry jar.
  • Vodka: How to make this classic recipe dirty – you could also add gin or tequila. I used plain vodka but flavored would be good too (lime or whipped or even vanilla vodka). Even Rum would be good – it’d be like rum punch.
  • Lime Juice: I like adding some fresh lime juice to add a little extra depth to the recipe.

Click to see the recipe card below for full ingredients & instructions and below the recipe card for process shots.

How to make Dirty Shirley Temple

  1. You can experiment with lemon lime soda and ginger ale to see which you like best.
  2. I prefer using zero sugar soda since the grenadine is so sweet.
  3. I love these large ice cube trays – less melting into your drink.
  4. The lime juice is optional but it adds such a great brightness to the drink.

Expert Tips

  • A classic Shirley Temple is made with ginger ale, but it can be sweeter with a lemon lime soda like Sprite, so the choice is yours.
  • I call for an oz of grenadine but if that’s too much for you, just add a splash of grenadine instead.
  • You can serve this in a highball glass or tall drinking glass or you can make a big batch in a punch bowl for a party – multiply all ingredients by 8 servings to make a party punch.

If you feel the Lavender Haze creepin’ up on you – make a Lavender Haze Cocktail! This Taylor Swift inspired drink is a Lavender Tom Collins – it’s refreshing and a little sweet with just a slight floral flavor. Stay in the Lavender Haze with this drink!

2 tall glasses with purple drink, lemon and lavender behind.

If you love Midnights or Taylor Swift or the Eras Tour or you’ve just been alive the last few years, you’ll know the song Lavender Haze. It’s the first track on that album and it inspired this gorgeous citrus lavender refreshing cocktail recipe. It’s perfect for a Taylor Swift Party or just because you’re watching a grainy livestream of the Eras Tour on TikTok (I’m one of her biggest fans!)

ingredients in the lavender haze drink

Ingredients

  • Gin: Typically a Tom Collins is made with gin but you could also use vodka.
  • Lemon Juice: fresh squeezed is always best but bottled juice is totally fine.
  • Lavender Syrup: While you can make your own lavender simple syrup, you can also buy coffee syrup to use for this. There are a few different brands: Torani is the most widely available and makes regular and sugar-free lavender, sold online and at World Market (also check discount stores, like TJ Maxx). You can also search the liquor store – often they’ll have this flavor in the mixer aisle.
  • Club Soda: Or soda water, tonic water, or seltzer
  • Food Coloring: If your syrup is not lavender colored, you’ll want to color it so your drink is pretty. You’ll need a few drops of red and blue or a drop of purple food coloring to get the pretty purple hue.

How to make a Lavender Haze Drink

  1. You can use a cocktail shaker but I don’t – I just fill a tall glass or stemless wine glass with ice and add my ingredients. You could also use a mason jar for serving.
  2. Add gin an oz lemon juice to the glass, then add the lavender syrup and food coloring, if needed. Stir.
  3. Top off with club soda and garnish with a slice of lemon or a lemon twist.
2 tall glasses with purple drink, lemon and lavender behind.

Expert Tips

  • You could also garnish with little lavender buds, but be sure to get culinary lavender.
  • Any cocktail glass will work, but I like a traditional tall glass since it’s technically a flavored Tom Collins.
  • How to make lavender simple syrup from scratch: Add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a small sauce pan over medium heat, along with 1 tablespoon culinary lavender buds. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and cool completely then store in refrigerator.
  • How to make Lavender Haze Cocktails for a party: Multiply the ingredients by the number of servings. Add the gin, lemon juice, and lavender syrup to a pitcher and chill. Add the soda just before serving.

What is a White Russian Drink?

The “Russian” part of the name is a nod to the vodka in the drink, which is a classic Russian liquor. It actually came to be after someone invented the Black Russian drink around 1949, made with just coffee liqueur and vodka. Due to that drink’s popularity, someone thought to add some cream, and the White Russian cocktail was born.

It’s cold, it’s creamy, and it’s perfect for sipping on after dinner or for festive nights. Plus, it’s really easy to make – you don’t need a bunch of different liquors and mixers. Just three ingredients plus some ice is all you need.

ingredients in the White Russian laid out on a grey counter.

White Russian Ingredients

  • Vodka – use your favorite brand (for me the best vodka is Tito’s)
  • Kahlua – or other coffee liqueur that you like
  • Heavy cream – but you can substitute milk or half and half if you prefer or nondairy milk, like almond or soy milk.

Variations

  • Omit the cream and you have a Black Russian Cocktail.
  • Make a Baileys White Russian by swapping the cream with Irish Cream.
  • A Mudslide is basically a White Russian with Baileys Irish Cream added – and you can serve it in a martini glass or a frozen mudslide using a blender.
  • For the perfect holiday twist add some cinnamon syrup or cinnamon sticks.
  • An Off-White Russian uses chocolate milk instead of cream.
  • There are tons of variations using things like bourbon or whiskey, rum or tequila or horchata – have fun experimenting!

How to make a White Russian

  1. Add some ice cubes to an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Pour the vodka and Kahlua over the ice.
  3. Add the cream and stir – if your cream is very thick you can water it down with milk.

Expert Tips

  • Always use good quality liquor, not the cheapest stuff. Midshelf brand is fine, but just make sure to use one you like but that comes in at least a glass bottle. Good liquor makes a difference!
  • This is the easiest drink to pour for a crowd because you’re just pouring into the glass no shaking needed!
  • Have Kahlua left over? Make an Espresso Martini!

FAQs

Are you supposed to mix a white Russian?

You can stir all three ingredients, so your drink is uniform in color. Or, mix the vodka and coffee liqueur and float the cream on top.  Or, you can swirl the cream into the drink by partially stirring it so you can see ribbons of cream in the glass.

This Strawberry Daiquiri recipe is the most refreshing summer drink you’ll ever taste! Made with fresh strawberries, it has tons of strawberry flavor – and rum – although you can make it a virgin daiquiri whenever you want!

When I was young I loved ordering virgin drinks and this was my favorite – like drinking a strawberry smoothie but so much better. To this day, it’s one of those recipes that I always get when I’m on the beach or poolside, therefore I wanted to make a homemade strawberry daiquiri that you could drink from your house!

Classic daiquiris have a perfect slushy consistency mixed with a lot of alcohol (rum). I use fresh and frozen berries to make this scream summer flavor! This is the BEST Strawberry Daiquiri – no matter how you make this recipe, I know it will be a refreshing drink of your dreams!

ingredients in strawberry daiquiri laid out on a white marble counter.

Ingredients Needed

  • Strawberries: A pound of strawberries is needed – you’ll freeze half of them.
  • Rum: Use any flavor rum you like – white rum, coconut rum, or spiced rum. Any brand too, like Malibu or Bacardi.
  • Simple Syrup: For sweetness – you can also use a few teaspoons white sugar.
  • Lime Juice: Brightens up the flavor of the cocktail. I like using fresh squeezed lime juice.

Variations

  • Slice and freeze half a pound of fresh strawberries to act as the ice in the recipe or use a half pound of frozen strawberries instead.
  • Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri – omit rum and replace it with 4 ounces water.
  • This same recipe can be done with peaches or watermelon – or really any fruit. Just use half frozen and half fresh!
  • You can also substitute vodka or tequila if you prefer.

How to make a Strawberry Daiquiri

  1. You’ll want to freeze half the berries (or grab a bag of frozen berries).
  2. You’ll need a blender to make a daiquiri – just blend the frozen and fresh berries with rum, fresh lime juice, and rum. You’ll want to blend until smooth – no lumps or chunks.
  3. I use a hurricane glass but you can also use a margarita glass.
  4. To make non-alcoholic: omit rum and use water in place of the rum (4 oz).

Expert Tips

  • Plan ahead to get half of the strawberries in the freezer so you are not rushing it at the last minute – or grab a bag of frozen berries and use half frozen and half fresh.
  • You can serve a daiquiri in really any cocktail glass, but I love a hurricane glass or margarita glass.
  • Serve immediately. I don’t recommend storing it.
